Astronomy and Physics

An undergraduate physics and astronomy degree allows students to explore the fundamental laws of nature, the behaviour of matter and energy, and the structure and evolution of the universe. It provides a strong foundation in core physical sciences while offering opportunities to specialise in areas such as astrophysics, particle physics, cosmology, and space science.

The programme offers the opportunity to study core subjects including classical mechanics, quantum physics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and observational astronomy. Entry Requirements

A Levels

  • AAA – AAB
  • Mathematics required
  • Physics required
  • Further Mathematics or Chemistry considered advantageous

IB Diploma

  • 34–36 points overall
  • Higher Level: 6,6,5 or 6,5,5
  • Mathematics HL required (Analysis & Approaches preferred) Physics HL required

International Foundation Pathway

  • Foundation in Science, Physics, or Engineering with Mathematics and Physics modules
  • Progression requirement: 65–70% overall
  • High performance in Mathematics and Physics essential

Btech Qualifications

  • Extended Diploma at D*DD – DDD in Applied Science or Engineering
  • Must include strong Physics and Mathematics content
  • Many universities also require an accompanying A-level in Mathematics

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS Academic: 6.5–7.0 overall, no band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: 90–100 overall
  • PTE Academic: 62–70 overall
  • Exemptions apply if prior study was completed in English or applicant is from a UKVI-recognised English-speaking country
